About Us
Our story
Norfolk Veterinary Clinic
Brad and Shelli Johnson bought Norfolk Vet Clinic in 2011 and turned in into the thriving clinic it is today. Over the years they have expanded to include an equine breeding barn located between Norfolk and Hoskins, and recently moved the main clinic to a new and bigger location to better serve our clients and patients. We treat our patients as if they were our own and the staff truly have a passion for the animals they care for.
Meet The Team
Our Staff
Brad Johnson D.V.M.
Brad Evert Johnson grew up in the small northeast Nebraska community of Concord, where he was active in 4-H and began training and showing horses at a young age. Upon graduation from Laurel-Concord High School, Brad attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with honors with a degree in Veterinary Science and was accepted to Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine.
In May 2005, Brad graduated from Kansas State University earning his doctorate in veterinary medicine, fulfilling a goal he had set as a Nebraska farm boy at age 8. Dr. Johnson went on to complete a 1-year internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery in Colorado. In 2006 he returned to Nebraska to be closer to family – working for 4 years as a mixed animal associate veterinarian in Creighton, NE. In 2011, Drs. Brad and Shelli Johnson purchased the Norfolk Veterinary Clinic and are currently the longest practicing veterinarians in our community. Dr. Johnson enjoys serving patients in internal medicine and wellness and has specialty training in theriogenology and has brought advanced reproductive services to northeast Nebraska where he serves equine and canine patients from all over Nebraska and several other states.
Outside of veterinary medicine, you can find Dr. Johnson spending time with his family Dr. Shelli, daughter Gianna, and son Abram on a family adventure – whether it is hiking in a national park or snorkeling in clear blue waters. But even greater, he loves his life in Nebraska – cheering on the Huskers, watching his children show at the county fair, raising a plethora of animals on the ranch, and serving at LifePoint church.
Shelli Johnson D.V.M.
Dr. Shelli Johnson completed her doctorate in veterinary medicine at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Dr. Shelli came to Norfolk Veterinary Clinic in 2007 with extensive surgery experience, starting as an associate DVM for Dr. Tom Calvert. Shelli and her husband, Dr. Brad Johnson, purchased Norfolk Veterinary Clinic in 2011. Shelli has held the role of lead surgeon since this time. You will often find Shelli behind the scenes, performing a wide array of surgeries from mouth to tail.
Dr. Shelli has always known she wanted to be a veterinarian, dating back to when she was a little girl growing up near Milligan, Nebraska. She is so thankful she gets to practice this profession helping incredible clients and their wonderful pets with a staff she loves.
Outside of work, Shelli thoroughly enjoys being with her children and family, eating really good food, investing in her church family, running, and cheering on Husker volleyball. Well, really anything Husker related. Drs. Brad and Shelli have plenty of adventures together with their two kids on their ranch full of critters, including horses, a few cows, chickens, goats, dogs, cats, and geckos.
Devon Lockman D.V.M.
Dr. Devon Lockman is a Norfolk native who attended Norfolk Catholic Schools. From a young age, he had a natural curiosity about animals that eventually grew into a passion for veterinary medicine. Dr. Lockman earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, with a minor in Business, from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He was then accepted into the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine through the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He completed the first two years of the program in Lincoln and finished his final two years at Iowa State University, where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
After completing veterinary school, Dr. Lockman returned to his hometown and joined the Norfolk Veterinary Clinic as an associate veterinarian. He looks forward to building lasting relationships within the community while providing high-quality care to his patients and their families. His professional interests include dermatology, ophthalmology, and client education.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Lockman enjoys spending time with his wife, Miranda, and their two daughters, Palmer and Lunden. In his free time, he likes golfing, spending time at the lake, working on home projects, cheering on his favorite sports teams (Go Big Red!), and gathering with family and friends. He and his family also share their home with two dogs and a cat.

Levi Licking
Levi works as a vet assistant and barn manager at our equine breeding facility. He jokes that he works with horses primarily because he’s scared of cats (but that’s a lie). Before returning to work at Norfolk Vet Clinic, Levi worked in the Sandhills of NE and in Montana with horses, cattle, bison, and zebras!
At home he has two kids who also love animals. They have a golden retriever that they like to take out pheasant hunting and a young horse he is looking forward to training. In his free time he also does some farrier work.
Madi Urbanec
Madi started with Norfolk Vet Clinic in 2024 while pursuing her vet tech degree at Northeast Community College. She found her passion of animals when she started working with cows at a young age.
In her free time Madi likes to spend time with family and friends and cheer on the Husker volleyball girls.

When not at the clinic keeping things running smoothly, Karen enjoys being outside tending to a large garden, beautiful flower beds, and spending time with family.
Holly Langenberg
Holly works as an equine tech during the equine breeding season and has been with Norfolk Vet Clinic since 2020. She grew up in the Hoskins area and joined the team because of her love of horses. Before coming to Norfolk Vet Clinic, Holly graduated from Black Hills State University in 2019 with a Bachelor in Business and specialization in Entrepreneurial studies.
At home she keeps busy with 3 dogs, multiple barn cats, and showing cutting horses. Holly enjoys golfing, spending time with family, and traveling. When she’s not at the clinic Holly is working with her family farm and running a horse hotel/Airbnb.
